Mr. Byrd has been in his role for the past 19 years with a dedication to research, teaching, and the future of agriculture.
When Mr. Byrd is not working, he helps his son with his landscaping business and tends their cows. Originally from Smithfield, NC, Mr. Byrd grew up in agriculture, growing tobacco, small grains, other row crops, and pigs.
Clay Byrd says that the majority of students entering this program do not have an agricultural background and are interested in learning more about swine and potentially becoming veterinarians.
