Smoky BBQ Pulled Pork
⏱ Total time: 6 hr. 30 min. 🍽 Serves 6
Ingredients
- 3–4 pounds pork shoulder
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Directions
- Pat the pork shoulder dry and generously season all sides with the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth and apple cider vinegar around the pork.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a large cutting board. Let it rest for about 10 minutes.
- Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces, removing any excess fat.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the BBQ sauce and cooking juices.
- Cover and cook for another 15–20 minutes to allow the smoky BBQ flavors to soak into the pork.
- Serve warm on toasted buns, tacos, or alongside your favorite BBQ sides.
