Statement of Purpose
The pork industry in North Carolina is successful because of the unselfish and unyielding effort of many people, businesses and organizations. A program of award and recognition is one way the North Carolina Pork Council formally and officially offers individuals or institutions its deep appreciation.
The North Carolina Pork Council establishes this awards and recognition program to honor people, institutions and entities that have contributed positively to the pork industry in North Carolina. The purpose of the program is to express formal appreciation and to bring attention to and recognition for deserving individuals and institutions.
An updated record of award recipients shall be maintained by the NC Pork Council staff.

- Hall of Fame
- Outstanding Pork Producer of the Year
- Emerging Leader Award
- Lois G. Britt Service Award
- Order of the Golden Pig
- Award for Excellence in Innovation
- W.W. Shay Award for Industry Distinction
The North Carolina Pork Council will not accept sponsorship of the following awards: Hall of Fame, Outstanding Pork Producer of the Year, Lois G. Britt Service Award or the Order of the Golden Pig.
The North Carolina Pork Council allows and accepts sponsorship for its annual awards program and/or luncheon.
Individual award sponsorship (such as presenting sponsor) will be allowed and accepted only for the following: Emerging Leader Award, Award for Excellence in Innovation and the W.W. Shay Award for Industry Distinction.

Purpose, background, eligibility and criteria information for each award or recognition program are specific to each award.
