Scott Bockenstedt
Scott is employed by Murphy-Brown’s Rose Hill Division in Rose Hill, N.C. where he oversees all company-owned and managed sow farms along with 15 contract farms. Scott is responsible for managing all cost-related phases of sow production at the farms, including labor and facility upkeep.

Scott is a production director for Murphy-Brown, LLC, the livestock production subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, Inc., and the world’s largest producer of pork and one of the nation’s leading turkey producers. Murphy-Brown produces 18 million hogs a year in 11 states.

Scott has been involved in all phases of swine production. Scott joined Murphy Farms (now Murphy-Brown) in 1987 working in sow production. In 1997, Scott became director of the company’s finishing operation (pigs grown to market weight). By 2002, he was promoted to production director of 50 percent of the company’s sows. In 2005 Scott was also assigned to direct production for 50 percent of the company’s nurseries. In 2006, he was promoted to his current position.

Scott grew up on the family dairy farm in northeast Iowa where he also helped raise pigs and cattle. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science in 1986 from Iowa State University in Ames. Scott resides in Willard, N.C. He enjoys sports and riding motorcycles.
