Producer ProfilesMichael Inman of Bladenboro has been involved in pork production all his life. He was reared on a farm in Bladen County where his family grew hogs and grain. After attending UNC-Pembroke, Michael continued to work on the family farm until he joined Prestage Farms in 1991. At Prestage, his career began as a breeding supervisor. Because of his outstanding job performance, he was soon promoted into sow farm management. Today he holds the position of sow service manager and supervises the operations of nine of their sow farms both company and contract. In addition, Michael continues to help with the management of the Inman familys pig nurseries on contract with Murphy-Brown LLC. Outside of his work in the pork industry, Michael is a strong supporter of community organizations and youth programs. He has served as president of the Tar Heel Dixie Youth Baseball Association and been actively involved with the Bladen County Dixie Youth Baseball Association, the Tar Heel 4-H Club and the Bladen County Livestock Association. He also serves his church as a youth leader and Sunday school superintendent and is a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Renee, have one son, Michael Inman II. Prestage Farms Vice President of Swine Production Zack McCullen describes Michael as fair and ethical in all of his dealings and as a person who leads by example. Ive had the pleasure of working with Michael for more than a decade, said Zack. I have seen first hand his strong work ethic, his excellent people skills and his tremendous attitude toward work and daily life. Throughout his career, no matter where weve asked him to serve, he has been willing to take on any job and has always shown great pride in his work, he concluded. Michael was selected by the North Carolina Pork Council to receive the 2006 Pork All-American award and was honored at the Councils annual conference and trade show in Greenville. |
