The Pork Chop Shop at the NC State Fair

Calling all volunteers… it’s that time again!

October 16-26, 2008

Yes, it’s that time again! The 2008 North Carolina State Fair is just around this corner and this year they are asking everyone to “Take Time for a Great Time” and we are also asking you to “make time.”
We are asking you to make time for the 20th year of the Pork Council’s “Pork Chop Shop” restaurant at the North Carolina State Fair. We will be opening for business on Thursday, October 16th. We know that we provide the best food at the best price on the fairgrounds which brings customers back to our pink and white tent year after year. So we are calling all volunteers to step up to help promote pork and the pork industry.

It’s going to take more volunteers than ever with the addition of the extra day to the fair schedule. In past years it has taken almost 250 volunteers to run the Pork Chop Shop for 10 days, but with 11 days to cover, it goes without saying we are looking for able bodies and smiling faces to help us out more than ever.

We were grateful for the effort and time our volunteers gave so willingly last year, and we hope to see you back again this year. New volunteers are ALWAYS welcome and there’s no need to be a pork producer to volunteer. So if you’ve done this for years or if you’ll be new to the Pork Chop Shop, we’d love to have you. Your participation supports our industry.

If you can’t volunteer, be sure to look for our pink and white striped tents between gates 1 and 2. Come have a plate with us and enjoy some good food. We need hungry customers too!

If you and/or your company want to volunteer, please complete the volunteer form and return it to the Pork Council office by Monday, September 29th. You may also call Ann Edmondson at (919) 781-0361 or email her at ann@ncpork.org.
