Educational RequirementsNorth Carolina's pork producers are required to have a certified operator in responsible charge of their waste management system. The owner of each animal operation having an animal waste management system must designate an operator in charge. The operator in charge must hold a valid operator's certificate for an animal waste management system in accordance with North Carolina Administrative Code Title 15A, Subchapter 8F - Certification of Operators of Animal Waste Management Systems. Prior to certification the operator must complete a 10 hour training program for animal waste management systems and pass the state examine. In order to maintain the operator's certificate, the operator must complete a minimum of six (6) hours of additional training approved by the Certification Commission during each three (3) year period after the initial certification. Because of the rapid advances in agricultural research, educational seminars provide pork producers with the most current information, presented by the country's leading animal scientists, veterinarians, researchers and experts in waste management, food safety, animal health, and environmental sciences. |
