Tom Slade is the director of the division of marketing for the NC Department of Agriculture. He supervises both domestic and international marketing programs and oversees the state's five farmers markets and two agricultural centers. He grew up near his family's row crop and beef cattle farm in the Martin County town of Williamston. Tom graduated from NC State University with bachelor's and master's degrees in economics. He began working in the division of marketing of the NC Department of Agriculture in 1974. From 1979-82, he served as the director of agriculture in NC's European Office in Dusseldorf, Germany. He still has part interest in the family farm in Martin County. Back to Board Members |
