Board MemberDistrict 7John Salmon
John Salmon began working in the swine industry in 1991 as an employee of Quarter M. Farms in Rose Hill and worked in all phases of production gaining valuable experience until 1996 when he joined his family in business. Presently, John is the vice president of Triad Farms Inc. located in Wallace. This is a 7200 sow farrow to wean operation that started in 1994 and is under contract with Murphy Brown. John along with his father, Robert Salmon Jr., and his brother, Greg Salmon, own and operate the contract sow operation that produces approximately 155,000 pigs annually. He is also the vice president of Safe Data, Inc.; a Wallace based family owned technology company that focuses on data collection for the agriculture industry. "The pork industry provides opportunities to engage in the production of a valuable food resource. The NC Pork Council plays a vital role in sustaining and preserving the rights of the industry amid the challenges of regulation and environmental concerns. Education that feeds positive public perception must remain on the forefront". John has served on the Sow Farm advisory board for Murphy Brown. He has also served as a board member of the Rose Hill Recreation Department for the past 13 years. He is a 1984 graduate of NC State University where he received his bachelor's degree in business management. In addition to serving on the NC Pork Council's board, John is a member of the Council's annual conference committee. Back to Board Members |
