Garland Parker grew up in Eastern NC, outside of Swansboro in the little town of Hubert. Both of his grandfathers were farmers with row crops and tobacco. Growing up his family had beef cattle. Garland graduated from NC State University in December 1995 with a bachelor of science in animal science. He interned with Murphy Family Farms in summer of 1995 while attending NCSU. Garland works for Fort Dodge Animal Health and won the President's Award with FDAH three times for outstanding performance and sales. He is a senior territory manager of all large animals (specializing in food animals), and started with NC and SC as his territory. Later, he took over swine responsibilities in NC, SC, and VA and this year, Garland took over a large portion of VAs beef and dairy. Garland has been a member of NC Cattlemen's Association for the past 10 years and the NC Pork Council for seven years. He has been a member of the NC Pork Councils fundraising committee for the past four years and volunteers for most of the Pork Council activities including Pork Chop Shop. Garland and his wife, Emily, have been married for 10 years and they have two sons, Ethan (5) and Bryce (2). They currently live in Clayton and own a farm in Aurora. Garland enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at the coast on the boat. Back to Board Members |
