Procedures for Electing NCPC DirectorsEach of the seven districts elects its directors by mail ballot.
The president appoints a nominating committee for each district which nominates at least two (2) candidates for each Board of Director's position to be elected.
In addition to nominees proposed by the nominating committee, candidates may also be nominated by petition. A candidate may be nominated by acquiring the signatures of 10 voting members from the district that he/she will represent. All petitions must be filed with the Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Pork Council by the close of business on October 1.
The nominees will be listed on the website of the North Carolina Council publication along with a short biographical sketch of each candidate.
On December 1, ballots will be mailed to all members known to the North Carolina Pork Council. Biographical sketches of each candidate will be included with the ballots. This ballot must be completed, enclosed in a signed envelope, and postmarked for return to the accounting firm, selected by the North Carolina Pork Council, no later than December 31.
The accounting firm, selected by the North Carolina Pork Council, will count the votes and report the results to the membership of the North Carolina Pork Council.
In the event that a director is not elected to fill a vacant position in a district by the ballot vote, the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Pork Council shall have the authority to appoint a director to fill the vacant position.
