Eddie Johnson

Eddie Johnson is the owner and operator of Double E Farms, a family farming operation which has been in business over 20 years. The swine operation contracts with L& H Farms with 8,000 head nursery, 52,000+ annually. The farm has 20 broiler poultry houses (Wayne Farms) and also has a 700-800 beef cattle finishing operation. In addition, the family has many acres of crops that include flue-cured tobacco, burley, corn, silage, soybeans, barley, wheat, and oat. Eddie runs a wood products operation (chips, sawdust, shavings), too. A graduate of NC State University with a degree in animal science, Eddie was a charter director of the Tobacco Growers Association of North Carolina (TGANC) and continues to serve today. He was named 2004 Southeastern Farmer of the Year by TGNAC. Eddie has been a member of the NC Poultry Advisory Committee and is a past president of the Surry County Cattlemen’s Association. Outside of his service in the agricultural community, Eddie served on the NC Parks and Recreation Committee and has been a 4-H leader in Surry County. He has been recognized with Soil Conservation awards on both the county and district levels.
