Kraig Westerbeek – National Pork Producers Council
Kraig Westerbeek has worked in the Murphy-Brown, LLC organization since 1993. Since 2010 he has served as Assistant Vice President Environment, Health, and Safety Compliance. His responsibilities include: ensuring compliance with all governmental and internal environmental, health, and safety rules and regulations across all areas of the company; direct all permitting activities; manage all farming, hay, pasture leases and forest resources; provide oversight and technical services to 1500+ contract swine producers on environmental and land management issues; and serve as company representative in all environmental and/or safety related issues. Kraig is a Certified Technical Specialist by the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources and also a Certified Irrigation Designer by The Irrigation Association. Kraig received his degree from N.C. State University in biological and agricultural engineering and has spent his career in the pork industry focusing on environmental compliance, irrigation systems as well as land and nutrient management. In addition to serving on the boards for the National Pork Producers Council and the NC Pork Council, Kraig also serves on the NC Pork Council’s environmental stewards committee.
