Dr. Gene Nemechek – Associate Representative
Gene Nemechek, DVM is a swine veterinarian with Zoetis Swine Technical Services Group. Gene is responsible for providing technical assistance to the Zoetis pork product sales staff and pork production customers in North Carolina and Virginia. Prior to joining Zoetis, Gene was the swine quality assurance veterinarian for the Tyson Pork Group, located in Springdale Ark. In addition, he was a staff veterinarian for GIS/Perfect Pig in Newton Grove and also spent 20 years as a staff veterinarian for Cargill Pork in NC. Gene is currently serving as the director for District 2 of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians. He has served as president of the NC Pork Council and on various committees for the Council throughout the years. Gene is also a past president of the National Pork Board and served on the NPB’s budget, swine health, pork safety and resolutions committees. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the NC Veterinary Medical Association. Gene grew up in western Kansas on a livestock and wheat farm but has lived in North Carolina since 1980. He currently resides in Wilson. He earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1976 from Kansas State University. Gene and his wife, Susan, have four children and two grandchildren. He is a member of St. Therese’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Wilson. He has also served as a troop leader with the Boy Scouts.
