Don Butler is retired from Smithfield Foods where he served as Vice-President of Government Relations & Public Affairs Sustainability Officer for Murphy-Brown LLC. He owns and operates a 7,000 head wean to feeder pig operation in Bladen County. For over 20 years, Don has been involved with pork production. He is past chairman and continues to serve on the board of directors of the Animal Agriculture Alliance. He is a past president of the North Carolina Pork Council and the National Pork Producers Council. He also serves on the board of the Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation. On a local level, Don is on the board of the Sampson County Friends of Agriculture as well as a member of the Bladen County Livestock Association. Butler has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology. Don lives in Clinton with his wife Ann.
